Cell Phone Contract

A cell phone contract is a great way to help keep your child safe, teach proper use of technology, and set limits with usage. The contract below is one the clinicians at Arkansas Family First in North Little Rock and Conway have created, and it addresses many of the issues that develop around the use of cell phones. Check it out below! You can request your own copy at the bottom of the page. Have a tween or teen at home who’s struggling with inappropriate cellphone use, difficulty developing relationships and other concerns? Take a look at our PEERS Program page. This is a social skills intervention program that teaches teens the skills to make healthy life choices.

Tips For Using The Contract

  1. It works best to introduce the contract before or when your child gets their first phone. If it’s too late, don’t worry. You can still introduce and follow the contract.

  2. Walk through the contract with your child, discussing each issue, collaboratively. The contract was intended to generate discussion and to set limits. Your child needs to know that you’re listening, just like you need to know they are listening.

  3. When discussing, stress your responsibilities too.

  4. Both you and your child should sign the contract.

  5. Review the contract from time to time to keep it front-of-mind, and make amendments if needed.
